Arsenal have been handed a tricky tie against Real Madrid while Manchester City will lock horns with Chelsea

The UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) quarterfinal draw has set the stage for some blockbuster matchups, with Arsenal taking on Real Madrid and an all-English clash between Chelsea and Manchester City.

Defending champions Barcelona will face Wolfsburg in a rematch of last year’s final, while record eight-time winners Lyon meet Bayern Munich.

Arsenal draw Real Madrid in historic clash

The semifinals could see another titanic battle, with potential matchups including Barcelona vs. Chelsea or Arsenal vs. Lyon.

Arsenal, the only English club to have won the UWCL (in 2007), will face Real Madrid in what promises to be an intriguing quarterfinal tie.

The Gunners, under Renee Slegers, secured their place as group winners despite a heavy 5-2 defeat to Bayern Munich. However, they bounced back with a thrilling 3-2 victory against the German giants on the final matchday, ensuring a seeded spot in the draw.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, have never progressed beyond the quarterfinals in their short UWCL history, having been eliminated by Barcelona in 2022.

Currently second in Liga F behind Barcelona, Las Blancas will be looking to make a statement against an Arsenal side brimming with experience at this stage of the competition.

Chelsea vs. Manchester City headlines all-English quarterfinals

One of the most highly anticipated fixtures of the quarterfinals sees Chelsea take on domestic rivals Manchester City.

Both teams have been in dominant form, with Chelsea topping their group with a perfect record and Manchester City finishing second only on goal difference behind Barcelona.

The clash will add extra spice to an already intense month, as the two sides will meet a staggering four times in just over two weeks—including the Women’s League Cup final and a crucial Women's Super League (WSL) fixture.

Chelsea, led by Sonia Bompastor, are chasing a historic quadruple, and overcoming Manchester City will be a key step toward their European ambitions.
