Yamal is set to Inherit Barcelona’s iconic No. 10 shirt as he pays tribute to Ronaldinho and Messi

Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal is on the verge of being officially unveiled as the new wearer of the club’s legendary No. 10 shirt.

At just 17 years old, Yamal has already emerged as a generational talent for both Barcelona and Spain, and the club is now preparing to crown his rise with the jersey worn by Ronaldinho, Diego Maradona, and Lionel Messi, three of the most iconic figures in football history.

According to club sources, Barcelona will officially announce the shirt number change once Ansu Fati’s loan to AS Monaco is finalised, thereby freeing up the coveted jersey.

The official reveal is expected to coincide with the launch of Barcelona’s new 2025/26 home kit, a marketing strategy designed to maximise fan engagement and merchandise sales.

Club officials view Yamal not only as a key player for the future but also as a potential global commercial figurehead, filling the massive shoes left by Messi.

Barcelona plans to immediately roll out No. 10 kits bearing Yamal’s name upon announcement, with stores worldwide expected to see a surge in demand.

Earlier this year, Yamal signed a new contract that ties him to the club until 2031. The official signing was postponed by the youngster himself, who wanted his grandmother present for the special moment.

Yamal shared a picture of Ronaldinho putting on the iconic jersey on his Instagram account.

As the Blaugrana return for preseason training on July 13, Yamal will face the considerable challenge of living up to the expectations that come with the No. 10 shirt once worn by Messi during his two-decade reign at Camp Nou.

Lamine Yamal became Barcelona’s youngest-ever La Liga starter at just 15 years and 290 days, and is now the youngest scorer in European Championship history after his stunner at Euro 2024
