Seyi Olofinjana was a familiar face in the Super Eagles team in the 00’s, making 48 appearances across 10 years and playing at three Africa Cup of Nations tournaments in 2004, 2008, and 2010.

He won Bronze medals in the 2004 and 2010 editions and was widely regarded as one of the finest defensive midfielders in the Super Eagles selections in his peak years.

Seyi Olofijana’s son, Femi chooses to represent Norway

His deep affiliations with the Super Eagles of Nigeria mean that eyebrows have been raised after his son Femi Olofinjana was spotted turning out for another country’s youth team in a recent friendly.

Seyi Olofinjana played for two Norwegian clubs, joining Brann in his first sojourn to Europe, and ending his career with Start IK.

Femi Olofinjana, a product of West Brom’s academy, is eligible to play for Norway, England, and Nigeria, but appears to have chosen the Nordic country for his international career, and has made three appearances for the Under 18 team.

In total, Olofinjana has made five international youth appearances for Norway after also representing the Under 17 team on two occasions.

Although he is yet to make a senior appearance for Norway or West Brom, the 18-year-old centre-back is highly regarded by the country’s football association and played the entire match in the friendly against Sweden.
