Partey faults 'adaptation' for injury problems at Arsenal
Thomas Partey has had a talismanic effect since joining Arsenal from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2020, but the Gunners have been unable to count on him in crucial moments due to injuries. The Ghanaian has come out to explain the reason for the injuries, and he attributed it to his adaptation to the Premier League.
Partey on his injury problems
Thomas Partey was speaking to Football.London after the thrilling 3-2 victory over Bournemouth in the Premier League when he was asked how he felt about missing so many games due to injury.
Partey explained that he believes adaptation to the Premier League and his new team is the cause, claiming it is normal after making such a move.
He revealed that he works hard to stay healthy and keep fit to help himself and his teammates achieve their goals as they charge towards Arsenal’s first league title in 19 years.
“Well, I think it’s adaption. If you go from a different league, normal things happen," he said.
“I am working on everything, I am trying my best. I am trying to help the team any time I can. When I am ready and fit, I will be ready to help the team.”
Partey's injuries
Thomas Partey has missed a worrying 37 games since Arsenal triggered his release clause in 2020 due to injury, according to TransferMarkt. Compared to his former club, where he spent five seasons, he only missed seven games as a consequence of an injury.
Thomas Partey leads Arsenal in tackles, interceptions, and possessions won in the middle of the park this season, according to Squawka, and his absence has always proved detrimental to their results.
He famously picked up an injury ahead of the February 15 clash against Manchester, which Arsenal lost 3-1.
