Fury started out well and was able to establish the jab connecting with Paul's face on several occasions.
Paul responded to the early dominance by Fury as he was able to catch his opponents with some huge swings in the middle rounds.
Both fighters promised an explosive fight but it turned out to be a tactical battle cautious of power punches.
Fury recorded a knockdown against Paul late in the fight as the cautious contest came to an end.
The fight went to the Judges' score card and Fury emerged winner against Paul via a split decision.
Two judges scored the fight 76-73 in favor of Fury, and one of the judges had it 75-74 for Paul.
Following the result, Fury stepped up to receive the custom-made belt from the World Boxing Council (WBC).
Paul on the other hand reiterated that he intends to have an immediate rematch with Fury later this year.
