Coach General - D'Tigress hail Rena Wakama for quarterfinal berth at Afrobasket

Rena Wakama the Coach of Nigeria's women's basketball team known D'Tigress has received special praise for her role on the team.

This comes after D'Tigress secured a quarterfinal spot at the ongoing 2025 Afrobasket tournament.

After leading the team to the title at the last edition, Wakama is back with expectations to repeat their success.

Wakama led D'Tigress to a decisive 92-45 win over Rwanda to start their group stage.

They followed up with a 60-55 victory against Mozambique coming back to take the game in the fourth quarter.

These wins ensure D'Tigress' advancement to the quarterfinals, with a bye in the round of 16.

Their next opponent will be the winner of the Cameroon vs. Angola clash.

D'Tigres showed off Wakama in pictures on the sidelines, holding a clipboard in a white blouse and brown cargo pants.

Along with the photos was a message that said, "Builder of Queens… and a force that refuses to settle for average.

"Premium or nothing! Our very own @Coach_Rena."

Wakama who led D'Tigress to the quarterfinals is now an assistant coach for WNBA’s Chicago Sky.
