Kenya's Edwin Kibet Koech won the 2023 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.

A Korean, Justine Kim, has identified the beauty of Lagos and the fun of the Lagos City Marathon as reasons he keeps participating in the race.

Kim, who has been participating in the marathon since 2020, was with his 10-year-old son.

Why I keep coming to Lagos – Kim

Kim, in an exclusive with Pulse Sports, said that he usually enjoys the atmosphere of Lagos and claimed that Lagos is his hometown.

The Korean participant added that the marathon is a big one that drew him to the 10 km race.

"This is my second visit to my hometown; Nigeria is my home country; I adore it; this is my fourth visit to Lagos, and my son's first. This is a big Marathon and I and my son participated in the 10km,” he told Pulse Sports

Meanwhile, Kenya's Edwin Kibet Koech won the men's international event clocking 2:14:06 on his debut.

The winner of the Gold-label Access Bank Lagos City Marathon will be going home with the winning price of $50,000.

The 27-year-old overcame the late surge of Ethiopia's Gaddisa Tafa Dekebe, who clocked a Personal Best (PB) of 2:14:54 to win $40000, while Bernard Sang, also from Kenya, finished third in 2:17:14 with the cash prize of $30000.

In the Women’s category, Herpha Guta of Ethiopia reclaimed the title she won in 2018.
