Tokyo 2025: World Athletics announce $8.5 million total prize money for finalists plus world record bonuses
With a few days to the start of Tokyo 2025, World Athletics has announced a whopping sum of $8.5 million in total prize money for all finalists plus world record bonuses.
The World Athletics Championships, set to begin on September 13 and end on 21, will feature the world's best athletes converging for the sole aim of being a world champion or medallist, thus bringing glory to their respective countries.
As a reward for medalling, prize money for the medallists and all finalists has been confirmed by World Athletics, with gold medal winners earning $70,000. Additionally, any world record breaker will earn an extra $100,000.

Some top athletes that'll be participating at the championship include reigning world champions Sha'Carri Richardson, Noah Lyles, and pole vault world record holder Mondo Duplantis, as well as Olympic champions Julien Alfred, Letsile Tebogo, and Tara Davis-Woodhall.
