Alana Reid and Sha'Carri Richardson's relationship is getting stronger as the Jamaican teen sensation has revealed how the world's fastest woman mentors her in training.

Jamaican teen sensation Alana Reid has finally opened up on her relationship with world 100m champion Sha'Carri Richardson.

Reid, the reigning World Under-20 200m bronze medallist, made a shocking move in October 2023 to start training under the guidance of Richardson's coach Dennis Mitchell at the Florida-based Star Athletics Track Club.

This move came with mixed feelings from Jamaican athletics fans, who feel their best talent should not be training in a rival country. Also, the switch came a few months after she ran the 100m National U20 record of 10.92s and signed a multi-year professional deal with Nike.

With months passing by, the Jamaican U20 record holder in the 100m events has now revealed her reasons for the move and her relationship with the world's fastest woman in training.

"It is a good feeling being around her (Sha'Carri Richardson). She teaches me a lot, and she shows me a lot of stuff," said Reid in an interview with Jamaica Observer.

"There are times when I will make a few errors, and she will put me aside and say whatever. But it's not for me to come here and focus on anybody; it is to focus on myself and prepare myself to be better than who I am," she explained.

The 18-year-old has her goals set on making the Jamaican Olympic team to Paris and doing well at the World U20 Championships.

"My main focus is for me to chase my dreams and stay and try to make the Olympic team this year. I have the World Under-20 Championships coming up, and my focus is also on that," she said.
