Noah Lyles delivers again, storms to London Diamond League victory in a new Personal Best and Meeting Record of 9.81s
World's fastest man Noah Lyles has given another indication that he isn't relinquishing his status as the man to beat in Paris, after defeating a loaded field in a blistering time of 9.81s at the London Diamond League.
The American track star who has been on the wrong side of rivals and track fans' books for his vocal personality in the past few weeks, showed once again he isn't just a man of words but backs it up with actions.
Lyles had a good start, going with the rest of the field with his strength paying off at the 60m mark as he pulled away to the finish line in a new Personal Best and Meeting Record for his winning time.
South Africa's Akani Simbine gave a glimpse that he's also one to watch out for at the Olympics, finishing closely behind in a Season's Best (SB) of 9.86s (his second-fastest time ever), while Botswana's youngster Letsile Tebogo was third equalling his National Record of 9.88s.

With Lyles's victory, he has extended his winning streak in the men's 100m event this season, his only loss coming at the Racers Grand Prix in June, where he finished second to Jamaican speed sensation Oblique Seville.
Likewise, the American sprint champion prove he's in top shape to be in Paris and challenge for the Olympic titles, which will see him become the first sprinter since the legendary Usain Bolt to achieve such a feat.
Finally, he has put the world leader Kishane Thompson and his rivals on notice that defeating him for the Olympic gold medal will be a huge mountain to climb, as he's ready to claim a second consecutive major championship title in Paris.
