National Youth Games: Team Ogun set to battle for laurels in 25 Games

The Games are scheduled to take place between September 20 and 30 in Asaba, Delta State.

Ahead of the seventh edition of the National Youth Games (NYG), Team Ogun has unveiled that they will participate in 25 Games.

The Games are scheduled to take place between September 20 and 30 in Asaba, Delta State.

Team Ogun will be departing Ogun state on Wednesday with two hundred fifty-five (255) contingent to Asaba, Delta State for Nigeria's Youth Olympics.

The games are Athletics, Ayo, Badminton, Boxing, Chess, Cycling, Darts, Football (Female), Golf, Gymnastics, Judo, Karate, Para Table Tennis, and Rugby.

Other are Scrabble, Shooting, Squash, Swimming, Table, Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Para Athletics, and Deaf Athletics.

Meanwhile, the state Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Yusuff Quudus implored the athletes to be on their best behavior at the event as they will be the kaleidoscope of Ogun State.

He encouraged them to marry their strength, competence, and the training acquired to get as many medals as possible.

FG adopts operation NIN for Athletes

The Federal Government of Nigeria has initiated a National Identification Number (NIN) verification policy for Participating Athletes.

The NIN policy was announced at the end of the technical meetings between the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development officials, the Delta State Sports Commission, the local organizing committee, and technical directors from the 36 states and the FCT, Abuja.

The meeting also revealed the modalities to adopt for the Seventh National Youth Games to be hosted by the ‘Big Heart of the Nation’
