Two-time Grand Slam Track champion Melissa Jefferson-Wooden is surely on a mission this season, after stunning Olympic champion Gabby Thomas to win the 200m event in the Short Sprints category at the Grand Slam Track in Philadelphia.
The Olympic 100m bronze medallist ran her best career race as she finished in an astonishing new personal best of 21.99s, while Thomas settled for second in 22.10s and Tamari Davis third in 22.59s.
Jefferson-Wooden's victory means she remains unbeaten this season and now stands as the favourite to win her third Grand Slam Track title in Philadelphia if she successfully wins the 100m event.
Her consistent improvement with each race this season shows she's in great shape and has the confidence to challenge for the sprint world titles in Tokyo this summer.
