Christian Coleman stormed to a joint world lead of 9.83s (0.4) in the men's 100m at the Xiamen Diamond League

Former world champion Christian Coleman bounced back to winning ways at the Xiamen Diamond League, blazing to a joint world-leading 9.83s for an impressive victory in the men's 100m event.

Coleman had a blistering start and first 80m ahead of the pack, which was enough to hold off Jamaica's Kishane Thompson, who had a fast finishing second half of the race to finish second in a rewarding Personal Best (PB) of 9.85s.

To the surprise of many, Fred Kerley, after bragging in the press conference that he was going to win, settled for the third position in 9.96s.

Brandon Carnes ran a PB of 10.01s to place fourth, Mavin Bracy-Williams was fifth in 10.02s, Yohan Blake sixth in 10.04s, Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs seventh in an SB of 10.05s, while homeboy Zhenye Xie (10.12s) and Rohan Watson (10.18s) took the last two spots.

Coleman's win was highly impressive, considering the attention was on Kerley or Jacobs to outrun the field, but he proved why he is a former world title winner in the event.

For Kerley, he will have to talk less and find his speed again if he's to have a chance at winning the Diamond League trophy.
