Adding more gold medals on Day 4 of the African Games to ensure Nigeria stayed top on athletics medals table were Ese Brume and Obiageri Amaechi in the women's long jump and Discus throw events respectively.
Brume retained her title with her very first jump, soaring to a distance of 6.92m (+3.9m/s), to which the remaining competitors couldn't match or surpass her mark.

By doing this, she became the second Nigerian woman after Modupe Oshikoya (1973 and 1978) to defend successfully a long jump title in African Games history, and the distance would have been a new record, but for the excessive wind reading.

Amaechi won her first international gold medal for Nigeria with a massive Personal Best (PB) of 58.93m to become the women's Discus champion.
She dethroned her teammate and defending champion Chioma Onyekwere, who settled for the silver medal throwing a distance of 58.03m, while Nigerian champion Ashley Anumba managed 54.88m to finish fourth.

Kemi Francis-Petersen ensured she finished with a medal in the women's heptathlon scoring 5268 points. She finished behind Ahouanwanou Odile, who totaled 5616 points.

At the end of Day 4, Nigeria sits top of the medals table with 9 Gold, 4 Silver, and 3 Bronze medals, far ahead of Kenya's 5, 5, 4 in second position.
Olajide, Akintola, and Ekanem make 200m final, with more medals to be won on Day 5
Speedsters Olayinka Olajide, Alaba Akintola, and Consider Ekanem have all made the 200m final and will be gunning to win more medals for Nigeria on Day 5.

African Games: Chidi Okezie emulates idol Innocent Egbunike, wins Nigeria's first gold medal in 37 years
Chidi Okezie became Nigeria's first African Games 400m champion since the legendary Innocent Egbunike did it in 1987.
Olajide will be looking to add to her 100m bronze with an upgrade, while Akintola and Ekanem will be aiming to win their first individual medal after being part of the gold medal-winning 4x100m relay squad.
