In the final, Onwuzurike lowered this time to a blazing 10.07s for victory, equalling the Facility Record.

It is his fastest season opener and stands No.1 on the Nigerian 100m list this year - a good sign of what to expect for the rest of the year as he chases the qualifying standards to the World Championships in Budapest and the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Recall that Onwuzurike had an exceptional indoor season, where he broke his School Records (SR) severally and got to the NCAA Indoor Championships final.

The talented 20-year-old closed the indoor season with a Personal Best (PB) of 6.63s in the 60m.

However, Onwuzurike's highlight of the indoor season came at the NCAA Indoor Championships, where he obliterated his 200m PB of 20.53s with an outstanding 20.17s to win his qualifying heat and make the final.

This time stands as the second fastest by a Nigerian indoor 200m runner in history, and it's the sixth fastest in world history.

Sadly, Onwuzurike couldn't replicate this form in the final, placing fifth overall with 20.33s. Nevertheless, the speedster is one to watch on the radar for the rest of the year.
