The Super Eagles defender was instrumental at both ends of the pitch, scoring the opening goal and anchoring the back line as Nigeria secured a vital win to start their tournament campaign.

Ajayi highlighted the collective effort behind Nigeria’s victory, stressing the need for contributions from every area of the pitch.

He said, “It shows that we are one team. We cannot rely only on the attackers to score goals. Defenders and midfielders also have to chip in if we want to do well in the tournament.”
