Nigeria suffered a 0-1 loss to defending Champions Senegal in their opener.
The Super Eagles thought they had taken an early lead, but a goal by Anthony Ijoma was ruled out by VAR.
Sudan opened the scoring in the 25th minute with an own goal by Leonard Ngenge.
Walieldin Khidir doubled the advantage in the 44th minute by converting a penalty, sending Sudan into the break with a 2-0 lead.
The second half saw Sudan emerge better, with Ahmed Tabanja scoring in the 55th minute to make it 3-0.
Tabanja then sealed the rout with his second goal—and Sudan's fourth—in the 62nd minute.
This stunning performance comes after their coach, Kwesi Appiah, expressed bullish confidence ahead of the clash with Nigeria.
The result reshapes Group D standings with Sudan now on top with 4 points, level with Senegal but ahead on goal difference.
