Bayern Munich director Oliver Kahn says it will be a big risk for the German club to sign Napoli hero Victor Osimhen this summer.
Kahn made the statement as Osimhen continues to be heavily linked with a move to the Bundesliga champions.
Osimhen has emerged as the most in-demand player this summer following a historic season with his Italian club Napoli.
The Nigerian forward played a decisive role to help the club from Naples end their 33-year wait to win the Serie A title this season.
Bayern frown at Osimhen’s price
Osimhen’s excellent form saw Napoli lift their first Serie A title since 1990 but also reach the quarterfinal of the UEFA Champions League.
He has scored 28 goals in 35 appearances across competitions this season which has made him the most wanted man in Italy.
Several European giants are reportedly in the race for Osimhen’s signature, with German champions, Bayern, one of such clubs.
The interest in the Nigerian superstar forced Napoli to slap a whopping €150 million price tag on their hero, a valuation Bayern say makes Osimhen a big risk.
Speaking on the price tag, Bayern’s director Kahn said;
“When it’s about such a fee, we have to ask the question: does the player give you a guarantee for this money?”
“That would definitely be a big risk,” he added according to the reliable transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano.
Osimhen begins contract talks
In a related development, Nigeria Super Eagles forward Osimhen could be set for an extended stay in the city of Naples.
The former Lille man is reportedly set for talks with Napoli for a new contract that will see him stay at the club for the foreseeable future.
Osimhen has two more years left on his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2025. But with several European giants flirting with the idea of prising the Napoli hero away from the club, the Partnopei do not want to take chances.
According to Radio Kiss Kiss, as reported by Pulse Sports, Napoli have taken steps to ensure that their Nigerian striker continues at the club for a long time after opening talking channels with his agent, Roberto Calenda.
The talks started after Osimhen led them to the historic Scudetto title win, with club president De Laurentis having also expressed his intentions to keep the player at the club beyond the summer, while both Osimhen and his agent have acknowledged that this summer might not be the best time to move.
