The Hammers have now prioritised adding a dynamic, ball-winning midfielder, and believe the 22-year-old Nnadi, who currently plays for Belgian side Zulte Waregem, fits the profile perfectly due to his energy and tackling ability.

According to TEAMtalk, West Ham are ready to offer him a five-year deal, with a potential transfer fee of around €4 million.

However, the Hammers face competition for the Super Eagles prospect. Brighton & Hove Albion has scouted Nnadi due to his high-pressing attributes, and fellow relegation contenders Leeds United are also interested.

Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are also monitoring the situation, pushing West Ham to act quickly if they wish to secure the signing.

Uche, trusted from the start by Oliver Glasner for the European trip to Shelbourne, wasted little time making an impression as he arrived in the box to tap in Eddie Nketiah’s slick low cross in the 11th minute.
