Ruben Amorim has delivered a blunt assessment of Manchester United’s season so far, admitting that the Red Devils are nowhere near the level they should be.

With four losses in 12 Premier League matches and a mid-table position that reflects deeper issues, Amorim insists the team’s biggest problem is their failure to maintain control in games they should have closed out comfortably.

Frustration mounting as Man United lose control of key matches

Amorim did not hold back when addressing United’s inconsistent displays, stressing that their points tally should be far higher.

“I think if I look at the games, we should have more points,” he said. “And because we had control of some games, we had the advantage in some games, and we lost that control.

“So if I look at our games, we should have more points, and that is really disappointing. And it was really frustrating, especially the last game.”

The manager described the week following their most recent defeat as “difficult,” acknowledging the emotional strain on the squad but insisting that the process must continue.

With United stuck on 18 points from a possible 36, the pressure is intensifying, and Amorim knows that nothing less than steady improvement will be accepted.

Amorim admitted United “could have played better overall” and emphasised that urgency is now non-negotiable.

He warned that dropping more points will only worsen the consequences reverberating through the club. “The week was difficult due to that defeat, but the process must continue,” he said, noting the need to reset and refocus before the next match.

Amorim remains adamant that the season can still be salvaged, but only if Manchester United regain control, rediscover consistency, and start translating their dominance into points before it is too late.
