‘We can win the final’ - Man City star Marmoush sends warning to Arsenal ahead of EFL Cup final
Manchester City booked their trip to Wembley after a convincing semi-final victory over Newcastle United.
Holding a comfortable 2-0 lead from the first leg, City effectively ended the tie before halftime in the return fixture at the Etihad Stadium.
Marmoush, who has served as Erling Haaland's understudy this season, seized his opportunity by scoring twice within the first 30 minutes.
A third goal from Tijjani Reijnders helped seal a dominant 5-1 aggregate win for the Blues and sealed their place in the EFL Cup final.
Marmoush is confident in winning the Carabao Cup
Marmoush, who joined the club in January 2025 and is still seeking his first trophy, emphasised that many in the squad are hungry for success.
"We showed a very good mentality," the Egyptian forward told Sky Sports. "This is one of the biggest clubs in the world.
“We are here to win trophies. We were together as a team. From the first minute, we were very focused on the job."
"We showed our mentality and passion and are very happy to reach the final," he added. "We give our best every day to reach these finals and win silverware. Hopefully, we can do it for all the new players and also the players who were here."
"I’m very, very excited. It’s the best feeling to reach a final," he told City Studios. "We would like to reach every final we can reach. We’re very happy to be there. Now we focus on the next games and hopefully we can win the final."
Marmoush has now scored 12 goals for City, with five of them coming against Newcastle at the Etihad, including a hat-trick last season.
