Speaking at his pre-match press conference, the German tactician pointed out that due to CAF regulations denying approval for any venue in Benin, his side has been forced to play all their qualifiers away from home.

Benin Republic, who sit at the summit of Group C with 17 points, must avoid defeat against Nigeria to book automatic qualification for the World Cup.

Rohr expressed optimism about beating Nigeria at home for the first time ever and urged his players to remain composed.

“We go for a win but we know that we have to be patient and we know that Nigeria has only a chance if they win, so I believe it will be a very open match,” Rohr told reporters.

“When you see that we played all the matches away, not one match at home. We are used to playing away and to have some finals. We had it also in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.”
