Transfer news: Salah reportedly gives agent green light to speak to Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad
The Egyptian is once again at the centre of transfer speculation, with reports suggesting a potential move to the Saudi Pro League is back on the table.
In the summer of 2023, Saudi club Al-Ittihad made a bold £150 million offer for the Egyptian international.
At the time, Salah opted to remain at Anfield to continue building his legacy in the Premier League.
Salah’s move to Al-Ittihad
Despite speculation about his departure last summer, Salah ultimately signed a two-year contract extension worth a reported £42 million, securing his place at Liverpool until 2027.
This contract ensures that Al-Ittihad would still need to present a substantial transfer fee to acquire the prolific winger, regardless of his personal stance.
However, recent reports from French outlet Foot Mercato claim the situation has evolved, with the 33-year-old now reportedly authorising his agent to open negotiations with the club.
Salah's future at Liverpool became a subject of intense debate last December following a widely publicised disagreement with manager Arne Slot.
The forward expressed his frustration after being benched for a match against Leeds, accusing the club of a lack of support.
While tensions appeared to have eased upon his return from the Africa Cup of Nations, any lingering discontent could make a transfer a viable solution for both Salah and the club.
A summer move to Al-Ittihad would see Salah reunite with former Liverpool teammate Fabinho. The Saudi club also features former Premier League players such as ex-Aston Villa winger Moussa Diaby.
N'Golo Kante, another high-profile star, previously played for the club before moving to Fenerbahce in January.
