‘They’ve entered it in style’ - Gary Neville makes U-turn on title race prediction after Man City dramatic win

City secured a stunning 2-1 win against the Reds at Anfield, with Erling Haaland's stoppage-time penalty closing the gap on league leaders Arsenal to just six points.

Pep Guardiola's side appeared to be heading for a damaging defeat after a sensational free-kick from Dominik Szoboszlai put Liverpool ahead. 

However, a late equaliser from Bernardo Silva set the stage for Haaland's heroics from the penalty spot, sparking chaotic celebrations at the Etihad.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville hailed City's resilient performance as a bold statement in their pursuit of the Gunners.

"Well, ten minutes ago, the title race was done. It was now or never for Man City – it’s now! Sometimes in a title rac,e a team will grab an opportunity; City have grabbed one," Neville commented.

"They could be within three points by Wednesday, which will put pressure on Arsenal. It’s bedlam out there, it’s blue bedlam," he added. 

"Man City were 1-0 down and they’ve gone and won. If you want to send a signal, you’ve just sent it. 

“They’ve struggled lately; it was like they were refusing to enter the title race. But they’ve entered it in style."

Meanwhile, Guardiola emphasised that with 13 games remaining, the title race is far from over. 

The victory gives City a crucial opportunity to slash the deficit to three points when they face Fulham on Wednesday, putting pressure on Arsenal ahead of their match against Brentford on Thursday.
