World Athletics has revealed nominees for the 2025 World Field Athlete of the Year Award with Olympics and world champions Tara Davis-Woodhall and Mondo Duplantis leading the list.

The nominations reflect some of the standout performances achieved during the 2025 season, which peaked with the World Athletics Championships Tokyo, Japan in September with five men and as many women shortlisted after which a vote will whittle the list down to two each.

In the women’s category, Davis-Woodhall, who is the world long jump champion, leads the list after her undefeated 2025 campaign that saw her produce the top three performances of the year.

Who Are the Other Women Selected?

World heptathlon champion Anna Hall, who moved to joint second on world all-time list and set the top three performances of 2025, world indoor and outdoor high jump champion Nicola Olyslagers, Australia, who also won the Diamond League title, make the list.

Valarie Allman, the world and Diamond League discuss champion, is also on the list after staying undefeated with nine of the top 11 performances of the year, same as world hammer throw champion Camryn Rogers.

Meanwhile, Duplantis, the only athlete to break a world record in Tokyo, leads the men’s nominees’ list after retaining his world pole vault title both indoors and outdoors while he set four world records, remained undefeated and also claimed another Diamond League title.

Mondo Leads a Stellar Men’s Shortlist

He is joined on the list by Italian Mattia Furlani, the world long jump champion for both indoors and outdoors, Canadian Ethan Katzberg, the world hammer throw champion, world high jump gold medalist Hamish Kerr from New Zealand and Portuguese Pedro Pichardo, the world triple jump champion.

The vote to determine the Field Athlete of the Year finalists is open on World Athletics social media platforms – on Facebook, Instagram and X. Voting closes on October 26 and the winners will be announced at the World Athletics Awards on November 30.

The nominees for the Track Athlete of the Year awards were announced on October 13 and the nominees for the Out of Stadium Athlete of the Year awards will be announced on October 27.

The overall women's and men's World Athlete of the Year award winners will be selected from among the track, field and out of stadium category winners.
