Harambee Stars forward Mohammed Bajaber has recollected the difficulties he had to deal with before making his debut for Tanzanian giants Simba SC on Thursday.

Bajaber made his long-awaited debut for Simba and it was a memorable one as he scored less than a minute after coming on, and with his very first touch in the club’s famous red.

Introduced as an 84th minute substitute, Bajaber profited from a great pass in the box from Ugandan Steven Mukwala to slot home the third goal in Simba’s 3-0 victory over Mbeya City.

It was a massive relief for the former Kenya Police attacker, who joined Simba in August while nursing an injury picked up in June, when he was playing for the Kenyan champions.

“Joining a club while injured is not easy and a big club like Simba which comes with lots of pressure,” Bajaber admitted while talking to the club’s media.

“It was so tough mentally and physically to come back but Alhamdulillah, God has been helpful to score today.”

Bajaber had to be patient as he waited for his injury to fully heal but it took a longer time than initially thought, leading to questions over his future at Simba, just four months after joining the club.

The ex-Nairobi City Stars player says the time out took its toll on him and he had a hard time watching his teammates in training and on matchdays from the sidelines.

“It was always difficult; I go to training and everyone is playing and I am not. Very difficult to withstand such but thankfully, it went well,” he added.

“I was just ready to play and I have not played for five months so I prepared myself and looked at my qualities. Hopefully, more goals like today, I am pushing myself a lot.”

Bajaber has a chance to make it two goals from as many games when Simba host Azam FC in their fifth league match of the season on Sunday.
