Harambee Stars forward Mohamed Bajaber could be about to get a new lease of life at Tanzanian giants Simba SC after the club effected another technical change.

Bajaber has endured a frustrating spell since joining Simba from Kenya Police in a deal worth nearly Ksh13 million ahead of this season with an injury sustained in June locking him out in the first two months while he has not been selected even after recovering.

The Kenyan star was omitted from the Simba squad that played Stade Malien in the CAF Champions League last weekend, a match Wekundu wa Msimbazi lost 2-1, but it appears things could change for the better for him soon.

Pantev Sacked After Champions League Woes

This is after Simba sacked Bulgarian coach Dimitar Pantev after just 61 days in the job, having overseen five matches since replacing South African Fadlu Davids in October.

Davids had set high standards last season, reaching the CAF Confederation Cup final before losing the league title to bitter rivals Yanga by just one point but he quit in the opening weeks of this term to join Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca.

With Pantev coming in, Simba have fallen somewhat with two wins, a draw and two defeats during his time in charge with both losses coming in the Champions League group stage against Angola’s Petro Atletico and Stade Malien of Mali which proved to be the last straw for the Bulgarian tactician.

Could Bajaber Benefit from the Coaching Change?

However, it was still a surprise decision given Pantev has been in the job for just two months while Simba are one point behind leaders Yanga and with a game in hand in the league standings.

Assistant coach Suleimani Matola has been put in temporary charge as the club looks for a permanent replacement for Pantev and it could offer Bajaber a lifeline given he will start on a clean slate under the new man in the dugout.

Bajaber has not played since the final weeks of last season’s FKF Premier League with Kenya Police as he missed the last game of the season due to the injury but even after recovering last month, he is yet to get minutes at Simba.
