Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has launched a scathing attack on Mohamed Salah, labelling the star forward's recent explosive interview a "disgrace" and accusing him of a calculated attempt to inflict "maximum damage" on the club.

Salah's controversial comments to reporters at Elland Road, where he claimed the club had thrown him "under the bus" and stated he had no relationship with manager Arne Slot, have sent shockwaves through Anfield.

The fallout has been immediate, with the Egyptian star dropped from the squad for Liverpool's upcoming Champions League match against Inter Milan on Tuesday.

Speaking on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football, Carragher did not hold back, dismissing any notion that Salah's outburst was simply an emotional reaction.

"I thought it was a disgrace what he did after the game," Carragher stated. "Some people have painted it as an emotional outburst, I do not think it was. I think whenever Mo Salah stops in a mixed zone, which he's done four times in eight years at Liverpool, it is choreographed by him and his agent to cause maximum damage and to strengthen his own position."

Carragher Slams Salah for Undermining Liverpool

The former Liverpool defender claimed Salah deliberately waited for a poor result to voice his grievances, aiming to undermine both the club and manager Arne Slot.

"He's chosen this weekend to do this now and he's waited for a bad result," Carragher explained. "The Liverpool supporters, the manager, the whole club feels like it is in the gutter at the moment, and he's chosen that time to go for the manager and maybe try and get him sacked."

Carragher drew parallels to a previous incident, accusing Salah of using similar tactics to pressure the club's ownership into a new contract. "He did that 12 months ago and I called him out on this show about it. He played on the heartstrings of the Liverpool supporters," he said, referencing a time when Salah's contract situation led to fan campaigns like "Give Mo his dough."

The pundit took particular issue with Salah's "thrown under the bus" comment, turning the accusation back on the player himself.

"The line that stands out for me is 'thrown under the bus'. He's tried to throw the club under the bus twice in the last 12 months," Carragher argued. "With the manager right now, Salah should be doing as much as he can now to try and help the club get out of the worst run of results they've had since the 1950s, and he hasn't done that."

Arne Slot Casts Doubts on Egyptian Forward’s Future

Meanwhile, manager Arne Slot has admitted he has "no clue" if the Egyptian star will ever play for the club again.

Salah was left out of the travelling party to Milan after an interview in which he accused the club of throwing him "under the bus." The decision, described as a move by the club's hierarchy rather than a formal punishment, came after Salah trained with the team on Monday morning before being informed he would not be flying to Italy.

Facing intense media scrutiny, Slot appeared strained as he addressed the controversy. When pressed on whether Salah had a future at Anfield, the manager was blunt: "I have no clue. I cannot answer that question at this point in time."

The Dutch coach, who is under pressure following a poor run of just four wins in 15 matches, insisted the club had to react to the player's public comments. "Usually I am calm and polite, but it does not mean I'm weak," Slot stated. "When a player says things like that, we have to react as a club. And you can see he is not here."

However, Slot did not entirely close the door on a potential return. "I am a firm believer that there is always a possibility to return for a player," he added.
