LA Grand Prix: Tobi Amusan to face Camacho-Quinn, 3 other heavyweights in 100m Hurdles
The women's 100m Hurdles event at the LA Grand Prix will be a clash of heavyweights as the world's best hurdlers such as Tobi Amusan and Jasmine Camacho-Quinn will face each other for the first time this season
Amusan, the World Record (WR) holder and World Champion hasn't had a perfect start to the season, having lost a couple of races, but her Season's Best (SB) of 12.59s stands as the seventh-best in the world this year.
Camacho-Quinn significantly is the reigning Olympic champion and unbeaten this year. At the Bermuda Grand Prix, she was a few seconds away from reaching Amusan's WR of 12.12s after clocking a windy 12.17s (3.5), with the wind making it illegal. However, it is the third-fastest all conditions time in history.
Both hurdlers have had a rivalry from college days, so their clash in LA is another cracker to race for bragging rights.
However, Tia Jones may be in to spoil the party, also having an unbeaten run this year. Her SB of 12.44s is the fourth-best in the world this year, faster than Camacho-Quinn's 12.48s, thereby making her the fastest in the stacked list.
Former WR holder Keni Harrison will officially kick off her 2023 season in LA. She'll be gunning for a win to prove she still belongs in the big discussions.
Doha 2019 champion Nia Ali is also a major force in the field as she has twice defeated Amusan this season. Her SB of 12.53s is No.6 in the world, and she can challenge for the famous win.
Alaysha Johnson, Tonea Marshall, and Gabbi Cunningham complete the lineup, and anyone can cause an upset
