‘It’s unfair’ — Moroccos Hakimi speaks responds to rape allegations
Achraf Hakimi has broken his silence over the rape allegations he is currently facing, calling the situation “horrible” and “unfair.”
The Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco star insists he is innocent and confident the truth will eventually emerge.
Hakimi speaks out amid legal storm
In an exclusive interview with Canal+ on Saturday evening, Hakimi addressed the serious allegations head-on.
The Moroccan international, a key figure for both club and country, is confronting the possibility of a trial after French prosecutors in Nanterre recommended that the case proceed.
The accusations stem from February 2023, when a 24-year-old woman alleged that Hakimi sexually assaulted her after they connected via Instagram.
If the trial goes ahead and he is convicted, the 25-year-old could face a prison sentence of up to 15 years. Despite the weight of the allegations, Hakimi’s tone was calm and measured during the interview.
“Being falsely accused is horrible, unfair. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone,” he said, reaffirming his belief that the truth will clear his name. The defender has also communicated that his focus remains on his family and football, refusing to let the case derail his career or personal life.
Legal team challenges prosecution’s case
Hakimi’s legal representatives have strongly criticised the decision to move forward with a trial, questioning both the consistency and reliability of the accuser’s account.
They argue that psychological assessments and earlier testimonies raise significant doubts about the allegations, making the prosecution’s stance questionable.
The defense has framed the charges as unfounded and driven by misinterpretations, highlighting what they believe to be contradictions in the evidence.
While the Nanterre prosecutor’s office remains firm in its recommendation, the final decision on whether the case will proceed lies with the investigating judge.
For Hakimi, the fight is now as much about protecting his name and career as it is about the outcome in court. “I know the truth will come out. I have nothing to blame myself for, people who know me understand,” he told Canal+.
