The Dutch side were comfortable winners, leaving Slot to face mounting questions about his future at the club.

Slot speaks about his future

While his job is not thought to be under immediate threat, the upcoming fixtures against West Ham and Sunderland are now seen as crucial for the manager to turn the tide.

"I am feeling safe, I am OK. I have got a lot of support from above," Slot stated after Liverpool suffered their second-heaviest European defeat.

"It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory, of course, but if you are not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked."

He continued: "I am OK with my position. It is not the first time I've been in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.

“I'm not worried. What I mean by that is my focus is on other things than on my own position. I need to do better and that's what I'm trying to do every single day."

While Slot acknowledges his responsibility for the team's poor performances and his failure to implement effective changes, he cannot be solely blamed for the persistent individual errors plaguing his squad.
