“I have learnt from Pep since I was 15, when we first met at Barcelona,” Arteta said.

“Then I had the privilege to work with him and to experience so many incredible moments together. He was a master, in my opinion, the best in history.

"He has revolutionised the game and the way people understand the game," Arteta added. "To be a part of that was just an incredible experience. I am very grateful.”

The praise comes at a crucial time in the 2025/26 title race. While the two managers share a deep personal bond, they are currently locked in a fight for the Premier League title.

Arsenal maintained their grip on the top spot this past Saturday with a dominant 3–0 victory over Sunderland, before City responded 24 hours later with an impressive comeback win over Liverpool at Anfield.

City have not been at their bulldozing best this season, but a team led by Guardiola cannot be written off, especially in February.

Arteta's Gunners remain top of the table, and have a six-point advantage, but as the Premier League often serves up twists and turns, we can expect this race to go down to the wire.
