First Half

Gor Mahia made a bright start at Nyayo Stadium, striking early through George Amonno, who produced a composed finish inside the opening minutes to give K’Ogalo the lead. The goal carried extra significance for the forward, marking his first since joining the club three months ago.

For much of the first half, Gor Mahia appeared in control, buoyed by Amonno’s milestone moment. The team played with confidence, dictating play and keeping APS Bomet contained as they searched for a second goal.

However, the visitors gradually grew into the game and found an equalizer from the penalty spot after a foul in the box. Hansel Ochieng stepped up and calmly converted, shifting the momentum.

Just moments later, Ochieng struck again from open play, turning the game around with a quickfire second goal that stunned the home crowd, giving APS Bomet a 2–1 lead going into halftime.

Gor Mahia made two early substitutions, with Samuel Kapen and Chris Ochieng making way for Paul Ochuoga and Musa Shariff as they looked to regain control. Shortly after, Ben Stanley and Levin Odhiambo were replaced by Austine Odhiambo and Enock Morisson, signaling the team’s intent to push for an equalizer.

The second half began brightly for APS Bomet, who displayed quick passing and attacking movement, maintaining the upper hand. Gor Mahia’s Shariff Musa and Stanley combined well in attack, but their efforts were repeatedly cleared by a determined APS Bomet defense.

In the 66th minute, APS Bomet’s goalkeeper was booked for time wasting, reflecting the pressure the visitors were under to maintain their lead.

But the damage was done when Hansel Ochieng completed his hat-trick in the 75th minute, calmly slotting home to extend APS Bomet’s advantage to 3–1.
