The freshman year of Goodness Iredia has been amazing, breaking new records and bagging awards almost every week.

This time, the Cumberland University standout athlete retained his Mid-South Conference Field Athlete of the Week after impressing again at the Life University Open in Marietta, Georgia.

Iredia was announced as the winner on Monday, by the Mid-South Conference office for his outstanding performance of winning the long jump with a distance of 7.69m, thereby setting a new top mark in the NAIA.

He also finished in second in the high jump scaling a height of 2.00m. It is Iredia's second Mid-South Conference Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week honour this season and the fifth weekly honour of his career.

The youngster earned his first NAIA Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week early this month after claiming two victories at the Kennesaw State Invite in the long and the triple jump.

Iredia won with a new school record in the triple jump, the top NAIA mark, at 15.76m. He also won the long jump with a distance of 7.39m to post the fourth-best mark in the NAIA. Both marks surpassed the NAIA “A” standards.
