'Need to recall him' - Fans urge Brentford to bring back Benjamin Fredrick after turning heads in Super Eagles
Brentford fans are urging the Bees to bring Benjamin Fredrick back after the young defender’s impressive performances for the Super Eagles have captured attention.
The 20-year-old has become a key player for Eric Chelle’s team, despite yet to make his senior breakthrough at Brentford.
Fredrick was called up as an emergency replacement when skipper Ahmed Musa left camp during the Super Eagles’ successful Unity Cup trip to the UK. ‘
Since then, the Brentford U21 star has cemented his place in the national team, even pushing captain William Troost-Ekong to the bench.
After his latest standout performance against an in-form Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in Nigeria’s commanding 4-1 victory over Gabon, Brentford fans are calling for his recall from his loan spell in Belgium with FCV Dender EH.
Currently, Fredrick has made 15 appearances across competitions while on loan. Fans are increasingly vocal about his potential and what he could bring to Brentford’s first team.
One fan said, “Might need to recall him in Jan and start integrating him into the first team otherwise he could be gone after the World Cup.”
Another commented, “Y'all be sleeping on him at Brentford. Man's a top baller for his age.. He never sets a wrong foot.. Watch him slip away from Y'all at Brentford..”

Supporters also praised his future prospects: “He’s going to be better than our current two CB’s.” and “He’ll play in AFCON tho. Think it’s gonna be the summer when we get him back.”
However, some questioned his current role at Brentford, “Dude starts for Nigeria and seems to be quite well liked but never even makes our bench. Is he good enough? Do we just have too many full backs?”
With fans clearly excited by Fredrick’s rise, Brentford face growing pressure to recall the young talent and integrate him into their first team squad soon, a move also supported by his national teammate Calvin Bassey.
