Erling Haaland: Man City star extends incredible Champions League record

Erling Haaland was at the top of his game, scoring a brace as Manchester City played out a 2-2 draw against a spirited Monaco side in France.

The Norwegian forward broke the deadlock after just 15 minutes, rifling Josko Gvardiol’s cross into the net.

Although the home side pulled a goal back through Jordan Teze three minutes later, Haaland restored City's lead in the 44th minute with a wonderfully-placed header.

The towering striker would have single-handedly won the match had Eric Dier not converted a penalty moments from full-time, forcing City to settle for a point.

Haaland's goal-scoring form is a continuation of his phenomenal Champions League record.

The 24-year-old debuted in the competition in September 2019 for Red Bull Salzburg, scoring a hat-trick in his first game and netting five more goals in the group stage.

He continued his prolific run at Borussia Dortmund, bagging 15 goals in 13 games. Following Wednesday night’s haul, Haaland has now scored 29 goals in 31 games for Guardiola’s side.

His two goals bring his total tally this season to 11 goals in eight games, and he will be eager to maintain that run when City travel to face Brentford this weekend.
