Chelsea fans set to protest after sacking of Enzo Maresca
Chelsea are bracing for supporter unrest following the decision to sack Enzo Maresca, with fans now organising a public protest against the club’s ownership and hierarchy.
The move has intensified frustration among sections of the fanbase who believe standards at Stamford Bridge have continued to slip.
Fans plan protest against Chelsea hierarchy
According to The Athletic, Chelsea supporters feel the club has “failed to meet the standards” expected of an elite Premier League side after Maresca’s tenure was brought to an abrupt end.
The growing anger has led to the mobilisation of a protest group named ‘Not a Project CFC’, which is spearheading plans to demonstrate against co-owner Behdad Eghbali and the wider leadership structure.
The protest is scheduled for 17 January, ahead of Chelsea’s London derby clash against Brentford at Stamford Bridge.
Organisers are expected to use the high-profile fixture to amplify their message, reflecting deep-rooted concerns over long-term strategy, recruitment decisions, and constant managerial turnover under the current ownership.
Rosenior links spark further backlash
Chelsea’s situation has been further inflamed by reports that Strasbourg head coach Liam Rosenior is the leading candidate to replace Maresca.
While Rosenior has impressed within the BlueCo network in France, links to the former Premier League defender have been met with resistance from fans, many of whom question the 41-year-old’s lack of experience at the highest level.
The unrest comes despite Chelsea sitting fifth in the Premier League, following a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth just before the New Year. However, the Blues remain 15 points behind league leaders Arsenal, a gap that has done little to calm supporter concerns about the club’s direction.
With a fan protest looming and scepticism surrounding the next managerial appointment, Chelsea face a volatile period both on and off the pitch as pressure mounts on the club’s hierarchy to justify their decisions.
