Bandari Football Club has once again rung the changes at the top, announcing the immediate departure of Head Coach Mohamed Borji and his assistant, Tarik Bendamou.

The decision, confirmed via a press release by Acting Chief Executive Officer Tony Kibwana on December 11, 2025, comes barely three months after the Moroccan duo took charge.

The official statement cites a review of the team's technical direction and a focus on restrategising its performance as the primary reasons for the split.

Bandari FC Part Ways with Coach Mohamed Borji

Mohamed Borji and Tarik Bendamou were appointed with much fanfare in early October 2025, replacing the dismissed Ken Odhiambo.

The Moroccan tactician, a former Wydad Casablanca player, was heralded as the figure to lead the club to its first-ever league title, with CEO Kibwana expressing confidence that Borji was the right fit for a club with high ambitions.

However, the change in fortunes was not forthcoming. Under Borji’s watch, Bandari FC reportedly played eight matches, securing only one win, alongside five draws and two defeats.

This dismal return leaves the club languishing in a precarious 14th position on the league table, dangerously close to the relegation zone.

The recent performances, coupled with Borji’s earlier public complaints about the fatigue caused by long-distance travel for away games, appear to have sealed their fate.

Bandari FC Unveil Interim Coach

In the wake of the sackings, the club has swiftly appointed former Harambee Stars goalkeeper Razak Siwa to oversee the upcoming match on an interim basis.

Razak Siwa will be tasked with stabilising the ship before the club announces new technical arrangements in the coming days.

“Bandari Football Club announces that the club has parted ways with Head Coach Mohamed Borji and his assistant Tarik Bendamou, effective immediately,” the club said in a statement.

“The club will, in the coming days, announce new technical arrangements. In the meantime, Coach Razak Siwa will oversee the upcoming match.”

The sacking of the technical bench follows a broader overhaul initiated by the club's parent sponsor, just two days prior, which saw the entire Board of Trustees dissolved.

Kibwana, spared in the boardroom shake-up, now stands at the centre of a sweeping restructuring effort, charged with guiding the club back to the top tier of Kenyan football.
