Arsenal legend Henry names Osimhen and two others Barcelona must sign to succeed
Thierry Henry has urged Barcelona to sign a world-class striker if they are to return to the summit of European football.
The former Arsenal and Barça forward believes the Catalan giants are missing a clinical number nine capable of converting the chances created by their talented young attackers.
Barcelona need a real number 9
Speaking to Sport, Henry did not mince words about what his former club require.
“Barcelona need a real number 9. A top-level striker,” he said. “I am referring to formidable scorers such as Victor Osimhen, Erling Haaland or Harry Kane. Proven finishers, not prospects.”
Henry pointed to Barcelona’s struggles in front of goal this season, insisting wasted chances have cost them crucial results.
“When you have a talent like Lamine Yamal, who makes passes like that, you have to score. It’s simple. At this level, one chance is enough,” he added.
“I’ve seen games where too many chances were wasted. At Barcelona, that can’t happen.”
Galatasaray regret resting Osimhen amid transfer buzz
While speculation grows, Osimhen was absent from Galatasaray’s squad for their league loss to Konyaspor due to discomfort in his right knee.
The Nigerian striker was rested as a precaution ahead of a crucial UEFA Champions League play-off second leg against Juventus.
Galatasaray confirmed there is no major concern, with the decision aimed at ensuring he is fully fit to defend their commanding 5-2 first-leg advantage in Turin.
With Europe’s elite circling, Osimhen’s name continues to dominate transfer conversations, and Henry believes he could be the missing piece in Barcelona’s attack.
