‘After 'Enkara Messi,' you chose to shoot like an amateur’ - Iwobi and Chukwueze mock Bassey’s solo run against Burnely
The Cottagers claimed a narrow 3-2 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor, marking their first victory in 74 years, a streak that had spanned 34 matches.
Bassey had already made his mark on the game, scoring Fulham's second goal with a powerful header from a Harry Wilson cross in the 31st minute.
The win also served as a perfect send-off for the club's Nigerian trio before they depart for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Iwobi and Chukwueze recount Bassey’s solo run
On the team bus after the game, Iwobi and Chukwueze good-naturedly mocked Bassey for the wild finish.
"I was thinking maybe he's gonna dink it to the back post, but no! He did the chop. My man is still sliding," Iwobi said, describing the defender's skillful move.

"When he took the extra touch, I thought, 'Blood of Jesus! Where is this ball going?' That ball has gone to AFCON before we arrived," Iwobi joked, before noting that Chukwueze was in a prime position for a pass. "Then I looked at the clip, and Chukwueze was free."
Chukwueze joined in, comparing the run to Lionel Messi's iconic solo goals. "Enkara Messi," he said, referencing a famous commentary line. "But after 'Enkara Messi,' you chose to shoot the ball like an amateur player."
Amoment of individual brilliance from Bassey in the second half became the main talking point after the match. In the 55th minute, the defender embarked on an incredible run from deep, powering past Burnley's Vitinho and leaving Maxime Estève on the floor with a sharp cut-back onto his left foot.
With the goal at his mercy, Bassey's resulting shot flew high into the stands. He collapsed to the ground in exhaustion, a wry smile on his face, acknowledging the missed opportunity to cap off a sensational solo effort.
