AFCON 2025: ‘I am positive and optimistic’ - Tanzania coach reveals plan ahead of Rwanda and Tunisia clash
The Taifa Stars suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands of the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their opening Group C games of the Africa Nations Cup on Tuesday.
Nigerian defender Semi Ajayi opened the scoring for the Super Eagles with a brilliant header after receiving a cross from Alex Iwobi in the first half.
However, in the second half, Chanes M'Mombwa equalised for Tanzania after a brilliant run behind the Nigerian defence, but Ademola Lookman’s strike shortly after sealed the win for Eric Chelle’s team.
Gamondi speaks ahead of next game
Tanzania's head coach was asked during an exclusive interview with Pulse Sports what his mindset would be going into the remaining two games against Rwanda and Tunisia.
He responded, saying, “The mindset is always the same, to play a collective football, try to attack, try to get the ball and defend very well.
“Always, when you prepare a game at 30%, it is about the opponent. We need to analyse well and we need to try to know how to respond and how well we have the capacity and how we can improve our limitations as well.
“This is football and with the players I have, the commitment, the tactical discipline and the will to play good football, I am positive and optimistic.”
Tanzania will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing defeat against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
They will face Rwanda in their second game in Group C on Saturday and hope they can get all three points.
