Kane wanted a hattrick against 10-man Bayer Leverkusen.

The England captain was instrumental as the Bundesliga champions came through a sweltering and testing last-16 tie against the Brazilian giants, sealing the win with a classy second goal late in the match.

What Kane said

Kane confirmed via his Instagram account that the Brazilian team is very good.

He said, “What a game. What a tough game first and foremost. The conditions made it really difficult but credit to the boys the way we fought throughout the whole game.

“Playing against a really good team. We had to be careful and we took our moments well... it was nice to get a couple more, especially the second one was a nice finish to kind of seal the win.”

Bayern now shift focus to a blockbuster clash with Champions League winners PSG, a team they narrowly beat 1-0 in November during the earlier part of the season.

Kane, who has settled quickly in Germany following his summer move from Tottenham, remains confident that Bayern can rise to the occasion.

“PSG had an amazing season. We played them earlier in the season and won. It will be difficult, but we know we can beat anyone when we’re at our level," he said.

He added that recovery and preparation will be key, especially after the physical demands of playing in Miami’s oppressive heat.

“Time to recover now, spend a bit of time with the family and then prepare like we prepare every other game... Let’s keep it going and we look forward to the next round," he concluded.

Despite finishing second in their group after a disappointing loss to Benfica, Bayern are determined to make a strong run at Club World Cup glory.
