The Nottingham Forest striker announced that his son is celebrating his third birthday.

Along with photos of his son was a message by Awoniyi that said, "My guy is 3

Awoniyi missing from Super Eagles

Awoniyi celebrated his son just months after welcoming a newborn with his wife.

The Nigerian striker was initially included in the Super Eagles list for the international friendly games against the Green Falcons of Saudi Arabia and the Mambas of Mozambique.

Awoniyi and Aina have been replaced in the Super Eagles squad ahead of back-to-back friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique by Tyronne Ebuehi of Empoli and Umar Sadiq of Real Sociedad. Imago

Awoniyi pulled out due to injury with Nottingham Forest and was replaced by Real Sociedad's Sadiq Umar.

Awoniyi is expected to return to the Super Eagles fold as they begin a bid to qualify for the World Cup once more after failing to get there last year with a home game against Lesotho on November 13, one week before playing Zimbabwe.
