Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala will battle Rashord, Vinicius for the Socrates award at the Ballon d'Or ceremony.

Asisat Oshoala, a football player from Nigeria who plays for both Barcelona and the Super Falcons, has been nominated for the prestigious 2023 Ballon d'Or award.

The official Twitter account of France Football, which oversees the coveted football award, made the announcement of Oshoala's nomination. 

Oshoala has been nominated for a Socrates Award, which honors exceptional acts of togetherness carried out by committee leaders. 

Oshoala will battle Vinicius and Rashford for Socrates Award

Oshoala joins a prestigious group of five nominees for the Socrates Award, others being considered include Vinicius, Antonio Rudiger, Marcus Rashford, and Alex Morgan.

On September 6, the nominees for more categories like men's, women's, the Yachine Trophy, and the Kopa Trophy will be announced. 

Oshoala's Ballon d'Or candidacy underlines her exceptional talent and influence in the world of football, both at home and abroad. 

Players who have performed charitable activities away from football are honored with the Socrates Award. 

For his charitable work in Senegal, Sadio Mane received it the previous year.
