Alex Iwobi defends Nigeria's Fufu and Egusi soup compared to mashed potatoes and beans.

Super Eagles of Nigeria midfielder Alex Iwobi has defended the popular Nigerian delicacies Fufu and Egusi.

Iwobi, who recently turned 27, gave his thoughts about several issues on the Filthy Fellas Podcast.

Iwobi was asked as a Nigerian about his thoughts on Fufu and Egusi soup.

A panel host suggested that mashed potatoes and beans are a better delicacy than the Nigerian solid mixture of Fufu and Egusi soup.

When asked if mashed potatoes and beans are better than Egusi and Fufu.

The Everton man responded that the Nigerian delicacy was superior.

He said, "What bro the first time I had Marshall was 16. I swear down 16 the first hit Mash."

Fufu is a pounded meal in Nigeria derived from boiled cassava.

Fufu goes well with Egusi soup, derived from the protein-rich seeds of melon after it is dried and grounded.

Iwobi then went on to talk about the difficulties he faced attempting to switch allegiances from England to Nigeria.

Despite being the nephew of the great Jay-Jay Okocha, Iwobi found it difficult trying to play for the Olympic national team of Nigeria.
