After 11 days of the second phase of the ongoing Ardova Handball Premier League in Lagos, Niger United and Safety Babes have all but secured the titles.

The Minna-based team secured their second league title after a five-year wait after a commanding win against Confluence Stars.

Niger defeated the Stars 35-36 at Rowe Park in Yaba, Lagos, to claim the title on Friday.

The win by the Minna side led to celebrations from Tojemarine who finished second on the log with 55 points, three points behind the champions.

Tojemarine and Niger United will face off in the final match on Saturday in what has now been termed a dead-rubber clash after Niger sealed the coveted title.

The defending champions turned on the style, taking the Machine Boys to the cleaners after a 33-26 win.

Bendel Dynamos, on the other hand, improved their chances of avoiding the drop with a much-needed 38-35 win. Dynamos now need a win in the final game against De Defenders to retain their elite spot.

Also, Rima Strikers’ 42-22 win against Safety Shooters did little harm as they remain third on the table while Correction Boys defeated De Defenders 19-18.
