It was a tale of mixed fortunes for Niger United and Tojemarine on Day 9 at the Ardova Handball Premier League.

Niger United’s Ardova Hand Premier League title aspirations took a hit after they suffered a setback against Rima Strikers on Day. 

The 2018 winners, Niger United, faced a determined Rima sode and crumbled in the face of pressure against the giant killers.

Rima Strikers added the Niger side to a list of casualties that include Safety Shooters and Tojemarine Academy.

United's manager provided an excuse for the defeat after the game, with fatigue taking the fall.

Coach Adebayo Yekini also commended his players despite the loss for adhering to instructions after watching his side fall to a six-goal deficit at some point in the game.

In other games, in the male’s category, Confluence Stars defeated Benue Buffaloes and Correction Boys came correct against Police Machine after a 27-25 win.

Tojemarine put on the show of the day after they outclassed Bendel Dynamos 41-16, with De Defenders seeing off Seasider Boys 23-15 thanks to their goalkeeper Emmanuel Joseph the obvious star of the match.

Kano Pillars and Safety Shooters completed the round of matches in the men’s division, with Pillars 28-26 winners in that one. 

Women’s Category

It was a less busy day in the women’s division as former champions Plateau Peacocks defeated Delta Queens 18-17.

In the other match, Rima Queens followed in the footsteps of their male counterparts with a dominant 31-21 thrashing of Imo Grasshoppers.
