Miami Open 2023: Sabalenka coasts to victory as Andreescu suffers heartbreaking injury
Aryna Sabalenka's brilliant season continued, displacing Barbora Krejcikova in straight sets of 6-3, 6-2 to book her spot in the Miami Open quarterfinals.
She won the first set with an Ace and saw out the second set, getting another spectacular victory and revenge against the Dubai champion. Krejcikova had little or no answers to the Australian Champion's exceptional play, which flawed her immensely.
A nice embrace between two champs 🤝

Sabalenka's victory is her ninth WTA 1000 win in 2023, moving to 9-2 for the year. The only two to have more wins this year are the two who defeated Sabalenka on the way to tournament wins - Elena Rybakina and Krejcikova.
She is also through to her 15th WTA 1000 quarterfinal, and won 87.9% of points on her first serve against Krejcikova, the sixth time in eleven WTA 1000 matches in 2023 where she has won 80% or higher.

This audio is heartbreaking to listen to.
“I’ve never felt this kind of pain before.”
Bianca does not deserve this again.

Alexandrova won the first set 7-6(0), and Andreescu was leading the second 2-0 before she rolled her ankle, causing her to retire. She was heard saying to the doctors, "I've never felt this kind of pain before," and then carried in a wheelchair to a standing ovation from the crowd.
Andreescu was playing great since the tournament started, defeating Emma Raducanu and Maria Sakkari on her way to the Round of 16, so it's sad to see it come to an end on such heartbreaking note.
Standing ovation for Bianca Andreescu in Miami.

Her mom is in tears. And you can see the look on Bianca’s face as she leaves the court in a wheel chair.
She looks so broken. No one deserves this.
Everyone send her your prayers tonight 🙏🏼 pic.twitter.com/FxxG7iQYgZ
Meanwhile, Anastasia Potapova defeated Qinwen Zheng 6-4, 7-6(4) to reach her second WTA 1000 quarterfinal.
