In North Central, Benue Buffalo Rugby Club Makurdi of Benue State will be flying the flag of the region, while Team Edo Rugby Club will be representing the South-South.

The North-West will be duly represented by Barewar Rugby Club of Kano and Zaria Rugby Club of Kaduna.

The tournament was earlier slated for July 1-2 but was later rescheduled due to the national team's engagement in Mauritius.

The championship will be the first championship for women since the national sports festival in Asaba last year.

Nigeria's Women's Rugby team missed out on the Pre-Olympic qualifiers in Zambia because the country just resumed after the World Rugby federation banned the country.
