Napoli’s decision to troll him after the penalty miss left a bitter state in Osimhen’s mouth, with the club coming in for criticism from different quarters.

Osimhen did put the situation behind him after scoring in the 2-0 win over Udinese on Wednesday.

The Nigerian international then continued in the same vein on Saturday afternoon after coming off the bench to score in the 4-0 win over Lecce.

Napoli manager Rudi Garcia surprisingly left Osimhen on the bench, going for Giovanni Simeone up front.

The Neapolitans dominated possession from the start but never created clear chances, with Simeone struggling to impose himself.

Nonetheless, Napoli took the lead in the 22nd minute through Leo Ostigard’s header following a brilliant ball from Piotr Zielinski. Ostigard’s goal ensured the away side went into the break with the lead.

The Nigerian international headed in a brilliant cross from his partner in crime Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Osimhen’s goal gave Napoli breathing space, but there was more to come. Garcia’s men extended their lead in the 88th minute through Gianluca Gaetano before Matteo Politano’s late penalty wrapped up a comfortable win for the champions.
